Jennifer Metcalfe – AKA Mercedes McQueen – is leaving Hollyoaks this autumn after deciding to hang up her high heels once and for all.
We broke the news of Jen’s departure in this week’s* heat* and announced the arrival of some fresh faces for the family, including, Celine, Porsche and their teen sisters – who’re the daughter of Myra’s sister, Reenie.
“The arrival of the cousins will inject fresh blood into the family,” our *‘Oaks* insider told* heat*. “God help anyone who takes them on.”
And Jen isn’t the only one moving onto pastures new however, as Gemma Merna, who plays Carmel, will be taking her leave from the soap at the same time.

Earlier today, Jen thanked her fans for their support, writing:
“Mercedes is leaving the village, she needs to give her high heels a rest- my feet are knackered Read all your lovely messages.... Looking forward to welcoming the new mcqeens (their ace) lots of love and keep watching”
We know it’s still going to be great, but we miss her already. And Carmel, of course!
