If you’ve spent the last few years indulging in a happily uninterrupted hallucination about a deep personal friendship with Taylor Swift, this weekend’s events might not be your favourite tidings of the day.

The singer invited a select group of fans (we don’t have the warmest feelings towards them either) over to her LA pad for a five-hour secret session listening to her new album, 1989.

Unfortunately for those of us who didn’t get an invitation, it sounds like it was pretty great. This judgment is based solely on the fact that the attendees have tweeted about it in a manner that suggests that they still have sparks shooting out of their body in excitement.

And who could blame them? Taylor had a range of scintillating entertainment on offer, including the chance to be hugged (by her), pose for trendy-looking polaroid snaps (with her), gorge on pumpkin chocolate chip cookies (baked by her), cuddle her cat (owned by her) and depart bearing stacks of Swifty merchandise (patented by her).

Honestly, no amount of hysterically thankful tweeting is going to acknowledge how lucky those fans are.

Hopefully next time she releases an album, she’ll send some invitations across the pond. After all, there’s only so much TSwift deprivation we can bear.
