In the band’s new autobiography- which charts the boys’ meteoric rise to fame- Zayn reveals how he bumped into lothario Russell Brand at the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics.
The heartthrob recalls: "These crazily famous people were coming up and talking to me.
"All my life I'd seen them on TV and here they were just chatting away to us."
Zayn and the comedian hit it off, and it wasn’t long before Russell (who was once named ’S***er of the year’ by a UK tabloid) started handing out safe sex tips.
"Russell was brilliant. He was saying, 'Your performance was sick.' Then he started giving me family planning advice!
"I was like, 'Russell, you shouldn't be giving me that sort of advice!' He was hilarious, a really nice guy."
