Cheryl Fernandez-Versini slams Simon Cowell for criticising her: “At the age of 55, he hasn’t learnt”

The X Factor judge isn't happy with her boss

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has hit out at Simon Cowell for claiming she put on weight when she started as a judge on X Factor USA.

Earlier this year, the music mogul claimed she was heavier than normal when she joined the American version of the show in 2011.

And it seems the former Girls Aloud star still holds a grudge, spitting: “At the age of 55, he hasn’t learnt that a gentleman shouldn’t talk about a woman’s weight.”

The singer believes there shouldn’t be such a focus on appearance for people in the public eye.

Cheryl hopes to launch her own record label but says she would only take on artists over the age of 18 and she would then put them on an 18-month development course before they released any music.

She told the Daily Mirror: “It’s too much pressure. They would have to be over 18. But I would develop them while they’re still in school…

“It’s outrageous and it’s sad. Talent doesn’t have anything to do with how you look.

“Aretha Franklin is not a small woman and she’s got one of the greatest voices in the world.”

The star came up with the idea for developing singers thanks to her job as a talent show judge.

She said: “I love the aspect of X Factor where I’m nurturing talent. Watching the sparkle in someone else’s eye and remembering you having that dream, it’s such a buzz.”
