Lee Nelson explains why he stormed Stereo Kicks' performance

The X Factor's Michael Jackson Vs Queen week had a few surprises - not only was hot fave Paul Akister booted out, there was that stage invasion.

Stereo Kicks looked very nervous when comedian Lee Nelson (real name Simon Brodkin) rushed to sing with them, while Louis Walsh jumped to his feet and waved his arms frantically. So, why did Lee decide to gatecrash the X Factor stage?

"I wouldn't call it a stage invasion, it was more me offering a helping hand to the boys," he told us. "I've always felt that eight just isn't enough for a proper band, so I thought I'd be number nine."

Lee stuck the boot in even more when he told us he'd used the Chery Fernandez-Versini mime-gate to make his performance the best it could be.

"Cheryl was a real inspiration, as I did mime some of the lyrics."
