Caroline Flack: ‘Strictly Come Dancing got me over heartbreak’

Caroline Flack was pretty good on Strictly Come Dancing, wasn’t she - well, that is probably why she actually won - but the show meant more to the television presenter than she originally let on.

The former Xtra Factor host suffered heartache earlier this month after dumping her music manager boyfriend Jack Street.

And putting all her energy into the gruelling training regimes and performing on the show helped take her mind off her problems.

Caroline told the Daily Mirror: “I speak for a living, but I’m not very good at talking about my emotions.

“What [professional dance partner] Pasha [Kovalev] has taught me is that you can express it by dancing – it’s been a real outlet. You don’t feel bad when you’re dancing.

“You can’t feel unhappy – it’s impossible. It’s a natural way to release endorphins and feel good.”

Caroline credits Pasha with boosting her confidence and helping her to stop worrying about things unnecessarily.

She also says she learned to pour her feelings into her performance and claims she put all her emotion into her impressive showdance on Saturday.

She said: “I think it might have been a whole year’s worth of emotions put into a minute and a half of showdance.

“That felt really nice. It’s amazing to end it on a high like this. It’s been an interesting year but it’s been very testing in a lot of ways.

“It’s the way you handle things sometimes that makes you feel stronger in yourself and if you handle them right then you come out feeling good.”
