Never give someone a puppy, or pig, for Christmas. TOWIE’s James ‘Arg’ Argent should now have learnt that lesson after giving then girlfriend Lydia Bright micro-pig Mr Darcy in 2011.
Unfortunately, Mr Darcy wasn’t so much micro as massive and soon outgrew Lydia’s home.
"He went to a farm because he stayed at our house for quite a while and he was getting bigger and bigger,” Lydia explained to lastminute.com as part of their Get Christmas Right This Year campaign. ‘It just wasn’t working and we were so scared for our dog Trevor, who was so old and Mr Darcy tried to play with him and jump on his back and we were scared the dog would collapse.
“In the end we had to re-home Mr. Darcy before he killed poor Trevor. He went to live at a farm, which was the best place for him.”

Poor Mr Darcy, we hope he has plenty of mud to roll about in and fields to stomp about. But Lydia does keep in touch.
“In the beginning I visited all the time, now I visit once or twice a year but I have fond memories of him,” she said. “You know that people say pigs are really intelligent and they remember you, but he doesn’t remember me, so there’s not much point me going there when he doesn’t even recognise me and come to the gate. Maybe he is angry I gave him away.”
