Great news, gang – tonight is going to be a night full of laughter and good times. Want to know why? Well it’s because the British Comedy Awards are on, and they are always a right hoot!

The Awards took place last night, so we know who the winners are… SPOILER ALERT! But the show – which is on Channel 4 at 9pm tonight – is going to be EXCELLENT even if you know who’s taken which gong home.

So to celebrate the show being on tonight (which we’ll be live-tweeting over on heat’s Twitter BTW), here are the 5 most jaw-dropping moments from British Comedy Awards history.

Enjoy!

Tune in to the British Comedy Awards tonight on Channel 4 at 9pm!

Kevin Bishop throwing a bottle of Pom at the Inbetweeners when he lost to them in 2008.

In 1993 Julian Clary excused his lateness to the stage by saying he had been backstage "fisting Norman Lamont" (the then Chancellor of the Exchequer).

Ali G claiming he's so skint he has to buy his tracksuits second hand in 2012. He turns round and it says "Savile" on the back.

Ricky Gervais pretending that wheelchair-bound producer of The Office Ash Atallah was up there with him for a charity appeal in 2001. "Look at his little face… But we still need more money. Please…"

Ricky Gervais again, with a prerecorded acceptance speech where he was revealed to be in bed with George Michael in 2008.
