UPDATE: Suge Knight has been arrested on suspicion of murder with bail set at $2 million.

One man has died and another was left injured after a car accident in which rap mogul Suge Knight was driving.

It happened yesterday afternoon in Los Angeles after eyewitnesses saw the Death Row Records founder arguing with two men in the car-park of a fast food restaurant.

One said they saw the driver of a red pickup reverse into the men, hitting one, then driving forwards and running them both over. Suge had been spotted driving a red pickup just 20 minutes earlier.

More news:

The dead man has been named as the hip hop kingpin’s friend Terry Carter, and the injured man as Cle Bone Sloan.

Los Angeles County sheriff John Corina told the media that the incident could have been seen as deliberate.

“Looks like he drove backwards and struck the victims and drove forwards and struck them again,” he said.

“The people we talked to say it looked like it was an intentional act.”

A separate statement from the sheriff’s office said: “Various witnesses described the driver as being Marion ‘Suge’ Knight.”

Suge has since handed himself in to the police and was seen in a video walking into the sheriff’s station with his attorney. He was then interviewed by specialist homicide detectives, according to reports.

His lawyer, James Blatt, said in a phone interview: “We are confident that once the investigation is completed, [Suge] will be totally exonerated.”

But he did confirm that Suge ran over the two men in an attempt to escape two other men – and that Dr Dre and Ice Cube were also present during the accident.

We’ll have more on this story as it develops.
