Some exciting TV news this morning – Fox have confirmed that an X-Men drama series is being ‘negotiated”, for as early as 2016.

Rumours have been circulating for AGES between* X-Men* fans, but now it could actually be happening.

While Fox own the rights to X-Men, Marvel and Disney would also have to agree before the series went ahead. Oh, go on guys. You know you want to.

Things are still at the negotiation stage, but that’s something, isn’t it?

X-Men: Days Of Future Past writer Simon Kinberg previously said:

“We’re still in this place of figuring out what the future of the franchise will be, but when you look at S.H.I.E.L.D. to some extent and what Marvel is doing now with Daredevil and other shows on Netflix, it makes sense to tell some of these stories in TV partly because there’s just not enough screens to do all these characters, and also because the serialised format of comic books is better suited for TV.

“Because that’s it, every week you come back to the same characters different story, and in comic books every week it’s the same characters, different story.

“I think what [Fox is] seeing now is with the proliferation of new kinds of visual and special effects, there’s a way to make these stories that doesn't cost $300 million every time you have to make a huge movie.”

Fans are now pondering exactly HOW an* X-Men* series would work. Would we get big Hollywood names from the current film franchise taking part?

We certainly wouldn’t say no to James McAvoy and Hugh Jackman on our tellies each week, but it depends if Fox have the budget, no?

The studio could also do a separate reboot from the films, with a whole new (and probably cheaper) cast.

Or it could explore new* X-Men* realms by focusing on different X-Men characters from Marvel comics that haven’t yet been seen on screen.

Whatever happens, this is all very exciting. We’re obviously praying for James McAvoy to be on the show, though.
