Gemma Collins had a tough time when she went on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! last year – she struggled with the lack of food, sleeping out with the creepy crawlies, and she even self-diagnosed malaria before deciding to quit after just three days on screen.

The Only Way Is Essex star vowed to take herself off television forever after her experience, saying she needed to revaluate her life. She also promised to donate her FULL I’m A Celeb fee to charity.

Gemma failed to keep up with the staying-off-telly part of the bargain - which is fine by us because she's totes entertaining - but she did donate the cash to charity Save the Children and posted a letter on Twitter today to let fans know, writing: "Pleasure to have donated my jungle fee to such an amazing charity x #savethechildren."

The letter read: “On behalf of Save the Children I would like to offer my sincere thanks for your generous donation of £4800.00.

“We are very grateful for your support as it allows us to continue helping some of the world’s most vulnerable children.”

However, some of her followers weren’t quite as impressed and tweeted to voice their surprise that she’d donated so little when she was rumoured to have been paid a whopping £100,000 for the ITV show.

One person wrote: “No way you were only paid £4,800 for I’m A Celeb?! Bet you got £48,000 & donated 10% #con.”

Another tweeter posted: “You did not get £4,800 for going in the jungle, sort your life out.”

One other doubtful follower, wrote: “You really only get £4,800? Great donation, there is no harm in keeping some for yourself, but pretending you didn’t is bad?”

But it seems Twitter is wrong as Gemma's rep told heatworld: "I can confirm that the £4,800 fee was the full and final fee Gemma received for her participation in last year's I'm A Celebrity."

Gemma was reported to have been paid a lot more and was said to have got her full fee despite walking but her spokesperson denied this was the case at the time.

They said: “The show is three weeks long and Gemma was in Australia for five days, therefore she will receive a percentage based on that."

    Well done, Gemma.
