We nearly found ourselves in a lot of trouble when we stumbled upon a few tweets by J.K. Rowling that suggested she was writing ANOTHER HARRY POTTER BOOK.

On Thursday, the famous author tweeted saying she was going to write a brand spanking new novel in honour of World Book Day.

The big tease then went on to post a picture of Narcissa Malfoy and Percy Weasley, which almost made us burst into flames with excitement (never good) as we thought a Harry Potter prequel could be on the way.

She added: “Why has Percy Weasley got his arm around Narcissa Malfoy? Fine out in my new… kidding. I’M KIDDING. #NotAPrequel.”

WHAT?! What kind of sick joke is this? No new book? NO NEW BOOK! Please excuse us while we cry so hard that our actual eyeballs turn into tears.

Even if Ms Rowling has been giving a new Harry Potter book a flicker of thought, we might have to wait a while before she considers starting it.

In a new biography by Philip Errington, she’s quoted as writing to her editor Emma Matthewson: “I am so sick of re-reading [Prisoder of Azkaban] that I’ll be hard put to smile when it comes to doing public readings from it.”

    Sigh...
