Jeremy Clarkson will hear fate via disciplinary panel as Simon Cowell backs his return

It’s reported the Top Gear presenter – who was suspended following a ‘fracas’ with a producer over a steak – has been summoned by the BBC to appear in front of a disciplinary panel. All future episodes of the popular car show are on ice until this is resolved.

A formal letter, sent to the outspoken presenter today, will ask him to attend a hearing, along with witnesses to the incident.

It’s not known when or where the hearing will take place but it’s not likely to be a drawn out process.

Earlier today Jeremy changed his Twitter biog, rather comically, to: “I am probably a presenter on the BBC2 motoring show, Top Gear.”

Since the news came to light, hundreds of thousands of people have called for Jeremy to be reinstated. And it’s not just the public who’ve spoken out about in support of the 54-year-old.

“I like Jeremy. He has said some stupid things and he knows that, but he’s apologised,” Simon Cowell told t_he Mirror_. “I think what’s quite obvious is the public are behind him. But you know, that’s Jeremy.”

Noel Edmunds is positively seething about the whole situation and blasted the Beeb, telling the Guardian: “The BBC have failed to manage one of the best talents on TV.

“You have to laugh at the sheer incompetence of BBC management. Here is a hugely popular production, arguably one of the BBC’s most valuable productions, which is apparently being pulled from the schedule because of one of the presenters [being] involved in an incident.”
