He also thought the Liberal Democrats were called "Democats".

It's been a mad week for politics. First, the actual Prime Minister made it on to the cover of heat magazine - and told us all about his love for the movie Frozen - and now Joey Essex is taking selfies with Nick Clegg!

Are these politicians down with the kids or what?

Former TOWIE star Joey Essex was at the Lib Dem press conference because he's making a programme about the General Election called *Educating Joey Essex: General Election, what are you saying?! for ITV.

According to The Mirror, Essex interviewed Clegg - and asked some amusing questions - including this exchange about the name of the Liberal Democrats:

Clegg: "There used to be a Liberal Party and then the Social Democrats and they got together."

Joey: "I was wondering that. I thought it was quite a weird word in it - it's got cats in it. What's the cats about?"

Clegg: "It's not cats, it's crats."

Joey: "Oh it's crats? I thought it was Liberal Demo-cats."

Apparently, after this name mistake, the logo on the party website was changed to “Liberal Democats” - as a nod to Joey's gaffe. Lols.

A Lib Dem source told the paper: “We just thought it was the purrr-fect message… just goes to show we are feline good about the campaign.”

Joey also apparently thought Nick was called Nick Legg - but despite not knowing his name, praised the party leader for his "honesty" when he told Joey he didn't think he'd win the election.

Naturally, Joey asked for a selfie with the Deputy Prime Minister* - and Clegg obliged, tweeting the pic himself with the message: * "Really nice to meet you this morning. Sorry about the early start! Hope the programme goes well!"

Looks like Educating Joey Essex: General Election, what are you saying?! is going to be pretty funny.
