Sad news – Keith Harris, the ventriloquist who did Orville the Duck’s voice, has passed away at the age of 67.

He had cancer, and broke down on stage last year when announcing to the crowd that he was going to have a bone marrow transplant.

Keith received a standing ovation from the crowd, The Sun reported.

Orville the Duck takes us right back to childhood - he was massive, bright green, seriously cute and wore a nappy. His trademark (apart from being a massive green duck, obviously) was his distinctive falsetto voice. And no, we never saw Keith’s lips move.

At the height of Orville and Keith’s popularity they released Orville’s Song – which reached number four in the charts.

They also appeared on The Keith Harris Show between 1982 and 1990.

Keith’s agent, Robert C Kelly, told the Press Association that Keith spent his last few months “at his second home in Portugal, taking walks along the Blackpool seafront and sitting in the park eating ice cream and watching the world go by”.
