Zayn Malik has "no plans" to make any more sweet, sweet, slightly depressing and downtempo music with Naughty Boy anytime soon.

The news comes after Naughty Boy leaked the track I Won't Mind yesterday, which turned out to be a rejected track from 1D's latest album, Four.

A source told the Daily Mirror: “They hang out a lot at the studio, but there are no plans to release anything any time soon.”

Meanwhile, another source told the Mail Online: “It's important fans know this isn't a solo Zayn song or even representative of material he might record in the future.

“If you listen to the track it is clearly a song written with One Direction in mind for their last album. It's not new, nor is it a Zayn Malik solo track.”

It seems that Naughty Boy was living up to his name and didn't really make that very clear when he tweeted the track along with "let the music do the talking guys. thank us later. :) x".

Fans mistook the track as a new solo effort from Zayn, who had only quit One Direction a week beforehand so he could "be a normal 22 year old".

The track also riled up One Direction's Louis Tomlinson, who tweeted:

“Wow @NaughtyBoyMusic you’re so inconsiderate pal, seriously how f***ing old are you? Grow up! #masterofallwisdom.”

A representative for Naughty Boy said: "Naughty Boy and Zayn wrote and demoed it as a contender for 1D's album last year.

“They aren't furiously working on his solo material or anything, there aren't plans for anything and this wasn't recorded in the last few days.

“They are very good friends and Zayn is taking time out including visiting Naughty Boy at his studio and hanging out.”

Along with backlash from the track, Zayn's Twitter following has dropped by around 50,000 since he quit the band, no doubt fuelled by distraught One Direction fans. Nevertheless, Zayn still has 14.6million followers to his name. Making our 370K look tiny by comparison. Come follow us guys, we'll never quit or join One Direction. Promise.
