Ooh, this is exciting – we love a West End show, and ones about our favourite singers are always welcome.

It looks like Elton John’s life is about to be turned into a stage show. Well, it’s not like he’s short of a song or two, is he?

The Sun reports that Rocketman, the upcoming Elton biopic film starring Tom Hardy, is ALSO being developed for the stage.

It’s being worked on by the team who made Billy Elliot a huge stage success, including writer Lee Hall.

Producer Sally Greene who runs the Old Vic theatre told the paper:

“It is in the works right now.

“It will be called Rocketman but we will do the film first. It will open in Broadway before London.

“It will be Elton’s back catalogue... he will never end his career.”

Sounds like it’s definitely happening then – how exciting. However don’t expect Tom Hardy to be in the new West End play – he’s struggling enough as it is with singing for the new film.

He recently said:

“I’m not a singer. I have no idea really. I’m really trying but it’s hard to open my mouth in that way.

“I’m not really drawn towards singing and musicals and that stuff.”
