OMG, OMG, OMG! This could be the best news ever for any (well, let’s face it, ALL) the nineties kids out there – Mel C is hoping for a Spice Girls reunion next year.
The one they call Sporty wants to see the ladies back together to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut single Wannabe.
However, despite Mel B not being at their get-together at David Beckham’s 40th birthday bash in Marrakech at the weekend, it won’t be Scary missing from any future gigs – it will be Posh. Sigh.
Mel says she, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Mel B have talked about working together again but Victoria Beckham wants to leave the band in the past.
She told the Daily Star Online: “There were rumours of an anniversary reunion in 2014 but they were not true. The thing is we formed in 1994 but Wannabe was in 1996 so we didn’t see it as an anniversary year.
“I would like to think we will get our act together and do something spectacular to acknowledge our 20 years of Wannabe.
“However, myself, Geri, Mel and Emma have talked about the possibility of maybe performing live together again as a four-piece, because Victoria doesn’t want to do it anymore and we completely respect that."
Mel added that, while they all thought their Olympics closing ceremony performance in 2012 was amazing, Victoria didn’t feel comfortable doing it at the time.
She continued: “She’s moved on, it’s not her passion any more. She is doing insanely well with her fashion and the other four of us still love performing.
“But, yeah, the four of us may do something but nothing in the pipeline yet.”
We’ll DEFINITELY be there, Mel, but try and work on Victoria, yeah? Pretty please!
