Despite dismissing the democratic process in Britain before, Russell Brand is urging people to vote Labour in the 2015 election.

The comedian and former lothario, who has reinvented himself as a political speaker and activist, has posted a new video to his YouTube channel, The Trews{ =nofollow}.

Russell Brand held back additional footage of when he hooked up with Labour leader Ed Miliband, for a one-on-one chat, saying “this bloke will listen to us.”

He has thrown off his reputation as 'Mr Don't Vote' and urged people to head down to polling stations on Thursday to vote for the Labour party.

He said: “There’s loads of things I could complain about with Ed Milliband: Trident this, mugs with immigrants, there’s loads of things I could moan about. But what’s important is this bloke will be in parliament and I think this bloke will listen to us. So on 7 May vote Labour, on 8 May – more democracy, more democracy, more power to more communities, for all of us, for me, for you, for Trews, for Trewsers.”

A number of celebrities have come out in favour of Labour, including Martin Freeman, Steve Coogan, David Tennant, Jo Brand, Stephen Hawking, Ronnie O’Sullivan and Delia Smith.

The video also features snippets of David Cameron branding Russell “a joke.”

Russell responded, saying: "David Cameron might think I'm a joke, but I don't think there's anything funny about what the Conservative Party has been doing to this country - and we have to stop them."

In an interview which features in the clip, DC also says: “I’ve not got time to hang out with Russell Brand.”

But you did have time to hang out with heat’s editor-in-chief, Lucie Cave, eh, Dave
