What will the Royal Baby be called? The bookies favourite is Charlotte

The royal baby has finally arrived - and while we know that Kate had a little girl, after a very short labour, we don't know what she will be called.

But bookmaker Paddy Power think they do, deeming Charlotte as the favourite for the name of the newborn royal baby. They have slashed odds of the young pricness being named Charlotte by 3/1.

Alice is the second favourite name with odds of 4/1, while Victoria and Olivia both have odds of 5/1.

Other names in the running include the name of her great grandmother, Elizabeth (8/1), and her late grandmother Diana (10/1), as well as Alexandra (14/1), Mary (20/1), Grace (25/1) and Rose (25/1).

Twitter has been rife with speculation about the name of the new arrival since her birth yesterday, with former MP and broadcaster Gyles Brandreth claiming the royal daughter will be named Caroline (a name which currently has odds of 66/1) to honour Catherine's mother, Carole Middleton.

He wrote: "Diane Evans (who knows) tells me the names have been settled: Caroline Elizabeth Frances (the Caroline both a nod to Carole & royal) (sic)."
