We were heartbroken when our favourite comic fashion host Joan Rivers died last September following surgery complications.

But now it looks as though the Joan’s legacy will continue to live on through Fashion Police, as it’s been revealed her her daughter Melissa, 47, is set to join the show as a co-host.

Melissa, who has worked as an executive producer on Fashion Police since the show began, will start her new 'hot seat' role on 31 August, alongside fellow co-hosts Guiliana Rancic and Brad Goreski.

“I’m very excited to be given the opportunity to continue to work with my E! and Fashion Police family,” Melissa said in a statement. So are we, Mel.

New exciting features to E!’s iconic fashion programme also include two celebrity guests rotated in each episode. Melissa’s first show will kick off with coverage of the MTV Video Music Awards and we can’t wait to hear her, sure to be amazing, red carpet coverage.

After fashion matriarch Joan’s death, Fashion Police went through a difficult period. With Kathy Griffin’s ill-fated stint as host last November, resulting in her swift exit after only seven episodes, and Kelly Osbourne's departure in February, the future of Fashion Police looked rather bleak.

But now, with Melissa joining the show, things are definitely looking up!
