Amy Winehouse's father, Mitch Winehouse, and her former fiancé, Reg Travis, have hinted that they might make their own film about the singer in order to combat the “misleading and downright inaccurate” parts of the recent documentary, Amy.
A source told The Mirror: “Mitch and Reg are talking about doing something to correct all the wrongs and omissions in the new film. Their own take on Amy’s life is being discussed.”
Mitch has said that the film negates all the times he sorted treatment and staged interventions for Amy, and he claims that this information was left out of the interviews he did with the creators of the film.
The creators of the Amy documentary said, “When we were approached to make the film, we came on board with the full backing of the Winehouse family and we approached the project with total objectivity” based on around “100 interviews with people that knew Amy."
The news comes as it was revealed that lots of unheard Amy Winehouse demos were destroyed by Universal Music big wig, David Joseph, who is credited as an executive producer on the documentary.
Speaking to Billboard, he said: “It was a moral thing.
“Taking a stem or a vocal is not something that would ever happen on my watch. It now can’t happen on anyone else’s.”
Amy hits cinemas nationwide on 3 July.
