Cheryl Fernandez-Versini’s I Don’t Care makes original songwriter’s skin crawl

And it broke her heart to hear Chezza's version. Ouch.

If you're a singer, this is probably the last comment you want to get.

So Cheryl Fernandez-Versini won the British public her track I Don't Care last year.

Much to her dismay, the original songwriter - Bonnie McKee - is however not impressed with the outcome. For one, the original song title was Waking Up Diagonal and Bonnie claims some of the lyrics were also altered.

More news!

Bonnie told Idolator: "I wrote a song called 'I Don't Care', that's not what I called it actually. Cheryl Cole cut it and it went to number one in the UK last year.

"That was my 10th number one, so I'm grateful for it but I didn't want to give it up. It was a song I had written for myself. They tweaked a couple lyrics and changed the title.

"The original title was 'Waking Up Diagonal'. It's the first line of the song. I just thought it was more interesting than 'I Don't Care', which is such a boring title to me.

"When I hear that song it breaks my heart a little bit because it's my story."

    Oh dear.

However Bonnie did sing Chezza's praises.

She continued: "I mean the Cheryl Cole song was great, they did a good job with it, but it just wasn't the way I would do it. It really makes my skin crawl. I'm just like, 'This isn't how it's supposed to be'".
