Jake Quickenden's mum really wants him to play a role in Coronation Street. His mum says it's her 'main goal' for him. Bless her.

And what your mum wants you usually try and provide, right? You wanna make mum proud 'n' all that.

With that in mind, the former I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here runner-up would love to do this one thing for his mum, Lisa, and be cast for the ITV soap.

The 26-year-old told The Mirror: "My mum is the biggest 'Corrie' fan ever, if I ended up on 'Corrie' she would be delighted. I think that's her main goal for me to get on 'Corrie'.

"It's about testing yourself. I've never really done acting [except for] drama at school but I definitely would not rule out giving acting a bash, especially not on such a good programme as 'Corrie', it's massive. You never know what the future holds."

Aside from wanting to appear on Corrie, Jake hinted he'd be delighted to join Strictly Come Dancing or *The Jump, *in order to 'learn a new skill' and therefore said he wouldn't give Big Brother a chance.

"I don't think 'Big Brother'. I've done the 'X Factor' thing and I've done the jungle thing and that was creepy crawlies and I deal better with that kind of stuff better than humans to be honest," continued Jake.

"I think it would have to be something that tests me and be something where I'm learning a new skill like learning to dance or learning to ski or something like that. I wouldn't rule out reality again but I think I'll have to be testing myself."

Over the last 12 months things have been hectic for Jake. After a stint on the X Factor, he went straight into the jungle for I’m a Celebrity… and now he’s about to start his debut tour, Laid Bare.

Last month we caught up with him at London’s Steam & Rye to listen to four of his new tracks and ask him for his thoughts on the new X Factor judging panel – Nick Grimshaw and Rita Ora join Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.

Jake told us: “I think Rita and Nick have big shoes to fill.

“Nick is a cool guy and he makes me laugh on the radio and he knows his music – he knows what sounds good on the radio, he's an opinionated guy and he's talented at what he does so we'll see how it goes.”

Laid Bare starts on July 13 in Leeds.
