Rebecca Ferguson has got some advice for the thousands of hopefuls vying for a spot on The X Factor this year. They need to be prepared because it isn't easy.

The show may look like one big LOL but actually, Rebecca – who was a runner up back in 2010 – says that behind the scenes it’s not a walk in the park.

“It’s a tough show, it’s very much down to the individual when they’re on the show,” Rebecca, 29, told heat. “It’s tough and you’ve got to be tough when you go on. It gives you a platform and after that, it’s what you do with the opportunity.”

But she admits that for exposure – the show’s the best on TV.

“The industry is so hard at the moment I think the X Factor is perfect if you want to get seen,” she added.

“You can’t buy [the exposure] from that platform. If you are given that opportunity, why would you say no? If you’ve wanted this all your life and you get the chance to go on The X Factor. I can’t wait for it this year – it’s going to be interesting.”

    We can’t either.

Rebecca Ferguson appears at Lytham Festival in Lancashire on 4 August. Also on the line-up are McBusted, Sinitta, Faithless plus loads more amazing acts. For information visit www.lythamfestival.com.
