Forget about jumping the shark, Mick Fanning, an Aussie surfer ended up punching one in the back after he was attacked during the J-Bay Open surfing finals in South Africa.
The fearless surfer described the moment he was set upon by the tiger shark, which we're calling Jaws:
"I was just sitting there, I was just about to start moving... and I felt something get stuck in my leg rope.
"And I instantly jumped away and it just kept coming at my board and I was just kicking and screaming. WOW.

Luckily the surfing champ escaped without injury. When questioned by an extremely chirpy interviewer - who seemed oblvious to the fact Mick had almost died minutes beforehand - Mick was asked, "Did you see any teeth?"
Mick replied: "I just saw fin, I didn't see the teeth, I was waiting for the teeth to come at me.
The interviewer then asked if her got any good punches in? We're pretty sure any punch to a shark is a good punch.
He said: "I punched it in the back."
He's now gone back in the water for the first time since the incident. Still, it doesn't matter how many more surfing titles you win Mick, you've punched a shark now, you're never going to be any cooler in your entire life. It's all down hill from here, buddy.
