If you’ve been living under a rock for the last few years, then let us introduce you to the film phenomenon that is Sharknado.

Yes, that is a tornado and a bunch of sharks coming together to wreak havoc all over the city. And after the success of the original Sharknado in 2013, and Sharknado 2: The Second One in 2014, things are just getting better with the release of Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! this week.

And ahead of the release, we chatted exclusively to Tara Reid, who stars in the movie about the new film, Comic-Con, and working with Jedward.

So talk us through what happens in the latest edition to the Sharknado series?

This time, Sharknado is taking over the entire East Coast of America, so things are definitely getting bigger and badder. With each one, you think ‘How are we going to top it?’ but they’ve done it again.

** Did you ever think there would be three movies?**

No – never ever! The whole thing has been unbelievable. We’re all like ‘How did this happen to us?!’ It was just this little movie, and it’s turned into a massive sensation.

Why do you like working on the movie series?

Because it’s a fun movie, it doesn’t take itself seriously. People like to enjoy themselves, and Sharknado is very entertaining. I know people like to get together and watch it with their friends, and even have shark-themed movie nights. They're even having Sharknado parties! The amount of people who were dressed as sharks at Comic-Con was crazy, too.

** And what was Comic-Con like this year?**

**** It was amazing, the fans are so wild. They love the movie and being a part of it all. I couldn’t believe the number of people telling us it’s their favourite movie and 'you’re my favourite character!'. And the kids know so much about it, too. At first I thought 'I can’t believe these kids are watching it', but when you really think about it, the whole storyline is family-based. It’s a family fighting to be together and save the world.

Talk us through Jedward’s cameo in the movie…

I got Jedward the cameo in Sharknado 3. I told everyone on the movie so much about Jedward and their music, and was like ‘Will you let Jedward do a song for the movie?’ and they recorded Oh Hell No, so it’s just great!

Amazing! Was it hard working with the cheeky duo?

No! They’re really good guys. They really are – they’re so smart and very talented. I just adore them – they’re like my little brothers.

Do you think they could make a career of acting?

Of course – they’re Jedward – they can do anything!

Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! premieres this Thursday at 10pm on Syfy.
