Take a bow, Sam Smith. The singer has made history with his debut album In The Lonely Hour – it’s been in the Official Albums Chart Top 10 for it’s 67th week. The longest unbroken run EVER for a debut album.

The record was previously held by Emeli Sande (Our Version Of Events stayed in there for 66 weeks) but now Sam’s taken the crown.

And, unsurprisingly, lovely Sam was over the moon.

“What can I even say to this? I am completely and utterly moved and overwhelmed at this achievement,” the told Official Charts.

“I am forever thankful to my team but most importantly to the British public for making this happen and buying my album. This moment is one to tell the grandkids and maybe their grandkids.”

Earlier this year, Sam underwent surgery following a haemorrhage on his vocal cord but now he’s back, better than ever.

“I just feel stronger in the way that I’m singing,” Sam told BBC Radio 2. “It’s more reliable. I never doubted that my voice would come back, it was just the pain of having to reschedule stuff.”

Onwards and upwards now, Sam. Congratulations!
