Ousted Strictly Come Dancing star Anthony Ogogo has slammed the BBC competition over its dance pairs, claiming he thought they wouldn’t put him and Oti Mabuse together because they are ‘minorities’.

Speaking after he and Oti were voted off the show by all four judges, Anthony told the Sun: “I didn’t think that the BBC would put us together because we’re black or mixed race. I honestly thought they would spread the minorities around.”

He also said he wasn’t a “BBC face”, which is why he might have left so early in the competition.

“I’m entering the show with the smallest fan base, I’m quite young, I’m not Jeremy Vine,” the 26-year-old boxer added.

It comes after weeks of controversy for Anthony and Oti, especially after he had to pull out of his fighting schedule because of a dislocated shoulder – which is how he ended up on Strictly.

The pair were also hit with claims they didn’t get on away from the dance floor, after Oti confessed she thought he was an “arsehole” when they first met.

But before they left on last night’s show, both Anthony and Oti said they’d be good friends “for a very long time”.
