Simon Cowell casts doubt over One Direction’s future: “None of them have a plan right now”

The future of One Direction could be in doubt after Simon Cowell admitted none of the boys have any plans for what to do after next year’s planned hiatus.

Speaking to Good Morning Britain today, the X Factor judge pointed out that the band – Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan – have been working super-hard since they first got together in 2010.

“I think they've got to take some time off, I mean that schedule after five years was unbelievable, and it's not until they stop, that's when they're going to realise how tired they are,” he said.

“And then they're going to decide what they want to do next. I don't think any of them have got a plan right now.”

It comes after 1D cancelled their Belfast gig just minutes before they were due to go on stage, because of Liam being ‘taken ill’ with a mystery condition.

Some fans have speculated that Liam is gearing up to follow in the footsteps of Zayn Malik, who quit the band back in April

But others are saying it was a one-off blip in an otherwise unblemished record of five years of touring.

The cancelled show has now been rescheduled for tomorrow night, and while there’s still been no official confirmation of what happened to Liam, he did tell his Twitter followers that he’s “feeling better now”.
