UPDATE: A spokesperson for Zayn has categorically denied these claims, telling heatworld:
I represent Zayn and can confirm that this information is completely false. There are no plans scheduled at all.
After leaving the mega-successful boy band One Direction earlier this year to lead a “normal life”, Zayn Malik has done nothing of the sort.
And now it seems he’s yearning for his 1D lifestyle once more. Sort of.
Because reports suggest that the ex-Directioner is seeking out the boy band’s songwriter, Jamie Scott, to pen him a number one hit. Jamie is behind hit singles such as What Makes You Beautiful.
He hasn’t done too badly with making tunes for the boys, so we can see why Zayn’s keen. But apparently the feeling isn't mutual...
A source told the Daily Mirror:
“Zayn knows Jamie is a ticket to a hit and has been sending messages to him trying to get the songwriter on board."
The source continued:
“But Jamie feels that working with Zayn could cause problems because of his history with the band. In any case Zayn won’t be releasing his single until 1D is out the way and a couple of other 1D singles are out.”
So what do you reckon, could the 22 year old be on his way to a number one hit soon?
Personally, we’re eager to hear what his solo material will sound like. And if his hopes go to plan, it will basically sound like One Direction.

Don't worry - Liam got his own back at a different gig by thumping Hazza between the legs with his mic. Revenge: a dish best served both cold and very, very publicly.

Maaaan - boybands get all the best freebies. We imagine 1D will NEVER experience the panic of laundry day where every single item of underwear is either buried deep in the washing basket or slowly rotating round and round in the machine, tantalisingly close yet with a 90-minute cycle still to go before you can be reunited with them. Just look at how many pairs of pants the boys get chucked at them on stage. So jel.
