Olly Murs breaks silence after THAT X Factor gaffe: “I f**ked up”

He told Monica Michael that she’d been voted off BEFORE the Dead Lock results

Olly Murs’ face is so red this morning that satellites can see it from space – and he’s raised temperatures across the UK with his burning shame.

Why? Oh, just because he dropped the biggest gaffe EVER on last night’s X Factor results show.

Just before the end of the programme, he turned to sing-off acts Monica Michael and Anton Stephans to tell them what the judges had decided.

As Nick Grimshaw and Simon Cowell both chose to keep Anton, and Rita Ora and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini opted for Monica, the decision was taken to Dead Lock – but Olly pre-empted the public’s vote by telling Monica that unfortunately, she was being sent home.

Olly’s co-host Caroline Flack leaped into action, shouting “No Olly she’s not! We’re going to Dead Lock!” as Olly’s entire world tumbled in front of his eyes.

“Sorry, I got that wrong,” he immediately replied, “Sorry, I apologise for that, Monica, I do apologise.”

Oh god the CRINGE.

The audience members were muttering to themselves at this point while Monica put her shaking hand over her eyes and a crew member passed Olly a brown envelope with the actual final result inside it – which Caroline quickly snatched off him to prevent any more unfortunate slips.

Poor old Olly has apologised again on Twitter, telling his followers that he’s “still learning” about live TV.

Even lovely Dermot O’Leary, who had Olly’s job before him, reached out to send him a message of support, to which Olly said he was a “plonker”.

Olly has since pulled out of a DVD screening scheduled for this evening due to “unforeseen circumstances”, his management has confirmed, although it’s not been mentioned whether this is to do with last night’s gaffe.

Poor Olly.
