Keira's Knightley ad deemed "too violent" for TV

When we first saw the anti-domestic violence advert starring Keira Knightley we were shocked certainly, but also impressed that such a high-profile star was highlighting such a troubling issue. Now censors working for Ofcom have decided that the ad must have scenes removed before it can be shown on TV in the UK, deeming the beating depicted in the closing scenes as "too violent". The decision has angered the charity Woman's Aid, who made the advert, with a spokeswoman arguing, "We were very careful to reflect what we had heard from anecdotal evidence." Refuge charity have also condemned the decision, adding, "It seems pathetic. It is really important to raise awareness about domestic violence, and TV gets into people's homes." The advert, which has already been shown nationwide in cinemas and online, was due to be broadcast on TV this month, but now this looks unlikely until a resolution can be reached. Have a watch of the ad again and tell us what you think. Is it all a bit too much to swallow, or should it be broadcast as it is?

Qudos to Keira for taking part. Awful that its been banned though, the reality is brutal so why try to sugar coat it when attempting to raise awareness?
