Simon Cowell has hit back at the claims made last week about The X Factor, saying that any former contestant who didn't make it only has themselves to blame. Former contestants, including both Niki Evans and Steve Brookstein, had described the hit show as "sick" and blamed Cowell and co for "ruining their lives". Well, Simon is having none of it. "They blame us for wrecking their lives," he says. "No, we didn't. We just said, 'Welcome on the talent show, we'll put you in front of millions of people. Good luck to you'." He argued that success stories such as Leona Lewis had "made the most of the opportunity" and that sometimes it just doesn't work out for people. Talking about how he felt when Su-Bo was admitted to The Priory, Simon confessed to Heart radio, "It was a very, very, very tricky situation for me throughout because you have to ask yourself the question, 'Have I done the right thing or the wrong thing'. I wanted it to be an enjoyable experience for her and I still think and hope it will be."

OK it might be a bit crap having to go back to reality after having a taste of fame but surely their lives aren't "ruined?". This is why I stick to karaoke.
