The show Simon Cowell says will beat Big Brother...

Here's a tasty clip from Britain's Got Talent, the nine-night event (starting tomorrow night) from Simon Cowell's production company that he (and ITV) hope will challenge Big Brother in the ratings. At the official launch for the series in London's glamorous Mayfair last night, Cowell and fellow judge Piers Morgan took the opportunity to boast that their show will easily beat Big Brother, with Simon going as far as saying, "It’s our moral duty to drive Big Brother off our screens. I think viewers will watch variety acts such as nervous knife throwers rather than eight people sitting in a room. Personally I can’t watch BB anymore." Hmm... could this be Simon being deliberately provocative to grab some headlines? Quite possibly. And we can't blame him for wanting his new high-profile show to fare a lot better than the severe disappointment that was Grease Is The Word. And to be fair, with Ant and Dec at the helm, and a line-up of truly demented acts, BGT (as we're already calling it) promises to be mightily entertaining. It's actually a shame that it'll be going head-to-head against Big Brother on quite a few evenings. We'll be setting our Sky+. Mainly because we wouldn't want to miss the excruciating sight of Piers Morgan bodypopping.

Bit disappointing coz we don't get to see the real shit acts. Everyone who gets through has a 'tearjerker' of a story to tell so they get the sympathy vote! That's not what it's about.
