Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince premiered in London last night – you can read our full review in next week’s heat magazine. Until then, we thought you’d like to know that the sixth Harry Potter is the funniest film in the series, with all kinds of comedic misadventures involving Love Potion chocolates and the like. Ron Weasley finally gets a girlfriend – besotted new character Lavender Brown, whose arrival on the scene sends Hermione into a tizzy of jealousy. (Serves her right for not nabbing Ron when she had the chance!) Half-Blood Prince is stylistically a step up from the last couple of Potter movies; it’s absolutely beautifully realised, and very well acted, including by new cast member Jim Broadbent as the new Potions teacher. Handsome young Freddie Stroma is also a welcome addition as the arrogant Cormac McLaggen, who reckons he’s God’s gift to women and Quidditch. Our slight quibble is the story, which seems slightly separate from the overall saga, leaving us feeling a bit empty at the end. And this despite the – sob! – killing of a major character.
Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince opens on Wednesday 15 July. To watch a video from last night's premiere, click below and to see a gallery from the premiere, just click here.
