Was John Mayer to blame for Jessica's break-up?

We made a big sadface when we heard Jessica Simpson had been dumped just before her 29th birthday, and we've been trying to find out the reasons behind the split ever since. Well, now we've discovered that it might have something to do with her ex John Mayer. Snitches over the pond are saying that it was Jess' friendship with John that drove Tony Romo away, with one saying, "Tony found messages from John on her [Jessica's] phone and went ballistic. He dumped her right then. He walked out and that was it." Bit harsh, no? Just what did these messages say? Still, this is John Mayer we're talking about, and he's not exactly known for keeping his silly thoughts in his brain, is he?
