Sources close to Cheryl Cole have today denied that the Girls Aloud star is being lined up to take over from Paula Abdul on American Idol. The third Idol judge has yet to be offered a new contract, amid claims that she's asking for a huge pay rise. Cheryl is currently over in the States, and because of her role as a judge on The X Factor, many thought she would be offered Paula's job. However, according to Chezza's friends, the Geordie lass doesn't want to work in LA because she will miss husband Ashley too much. "It would mean she would have to leave Britain, which she won't do because it's her home. She wouldn't leave Ashley behind," her pal told the Metro. "She's only over there to work on her new solo album in the studio. She only wants to focus on her music. That's what she is – a singer." Simon Cowell has today gone on record to say he wants Paula back on the show. We'll let you know if they sort it all out.

I like Cheryl, but I never seriously thought she was a going to work in the states, it always seemed like a tabloid fantasy, just like the story of GA spliting which has been running for seven years..They are now admitting they were lying.

No of course she wouldn't. Ashley would be in the papers within the first month. Sadly for Cheryl she is never going to be able to be away from home for too long because of Ashley's wondering eye.

The Cheryl Cole machine seriously needs to quit it. She wouldn't take the job because it wouldn't be offered to her. God they are really trying to make her out to be more than what she is. In the States, no one knows her.
