It's OFFICIAL – Big Brother is over...or is it?

Channel 4 have confirmed the rumours today that Big Brother will indeed come to an end following its 11th series next year. At the peak of its popularity, BB drew an audience of 8 million and made stars out of many housemates including Jade Goody, Chantelle Houghton, Brian Dowling and Nikki Grahame. The current series promised to be its biggest yet, but viewers have deserted the show in droves, with a disappointing 2 million viewers tuning in. Here at heatworld, we think it has been one of the best BB seasons ever, but in these credit-crunch times, Channel 4 have only just managed to break even as advertisers find other ways to spend their money. But it ain’t over til the fat lady sings – and Allison Hammond ain't singing yet! Early next year, Celebrity Big Brother will return for one more series, followed by the 11th and final series of Big Brother. BB makers Endemol, however, are free to do what they want with the format which means it could potentially show up on another channel. Watch this space!

Big Brother's Big Mouth. If they could persuade Russell Brand back, even for a week, Matt and James then that would be worth watching. And the live feed, of course. They'd surely get the ads then.

It's a shame because the producers/C4 have effectively killed it off by getting rid of the live feed and starting this series with such a rubbish crop of housemates. I only hope for the final series (next year) they see sense and bring back nightly
