Cheryl Cole and Rikki Loney on The X Factor

The X Factor's Rikki is not very happy with Cheryl...
X Factor reject Rikki Loney has blamed his mentor Cheryl Cole for his early exit from the show, saying that the song she chose for him was a risk that didn't pay off. The Scottish-born singer performed an unconvincing version of Respect on Saturday's show, and Simon Cowell was quick to criticise, telling him, "That song was too big for you. It was the wrong choice." Rikki has also revealed that Cheryl was so nervous before her solo performance at the weekend that the boys felt as if they were mentoring her. "She was really really nervous," says Rikki. "We kept reassuring her, and she said she couldn't believe that we were telling her it would be OK – like we were mentoring her." Rikki says he now wishes he'd taken the advice of guest mentor Whitney Houston, who advised him to swap Respect for her own song My Love Is Your Love. "I'd have liked to," he says. "But there just wasn't any time."

Katie Price in Best Celebrity Mum shortlist
Katie Price has been named as one of the people on the shortlist to win the Bounty Celebrity Mum Of The Year title. Despite losing a number of fans following her split from Peter Andre, Katie clearly still has a lot of admirers out there who appreciate her for more than just her changeable love life. Katie is up against Tory party leader David Cameron's wife Samantha, and other celebs in the running include Geri Halliwell, Mel B, Emma Bunton, Tess Daly, Myleene Klass and last year's winner Suzanne Shaw. You can still vote in the poll by going to www.bounty.com/celebmum before 1 November.

Whitney mad at Simon for nicking her song

It's no surprise that Whitney Houston was in a bit of a strop on Sunday night, following her somewhat disastrous performance on The X Factor. Her dress did fall apart live on stage, after all. However, Whitney allegedly saved all her fury for one man in particular...Simon Cowell. The diva was incensed after Simon gave his act Danyl Johnson one of her brand new songs, I Didn't Know My Own Strength, to perform. Whitney was allegedly planning on saving the big ballad for her own tour. A backstage source revealed that Whitney glared at Simon after the show, before telling him, "You look guilty." Simon was shocked initially, but soon managed to talk her round, and the pair ended up being the best of friends. Naturally...

Baby news for Corrie's Samia – and maybe Coleen, too?

Coronation Street actress Samia Smith gave birth to a baby girl yesterday – just a few months after her character on the show, Maria. The 27-year-old star and her husband Matthew have called the little girl Freya, and all are said to be doing very well. The 7lb 2oz tot and her mum and dad are still in hospital, with a spokesman saying yesterday, "Everyone on the [Corrie] set today sends them all the best wishes in the world." Awww, congratulations guys. It is also being widely rumoured that Coleen Rooney has given birth in the past 48 hours, but we're still waiting for an official announcement. How exciting?!
