What IS going on between Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole?

Filed under: Cheryl Cole, Simon Cowell, The X Factor

The X Factor judges

On last year's X Factor Simon Cowell didn't say one bad word to or about Cheryl Cole, but something has definitely changed this year. What started as a spot of light-hearted banter during the auditions stage has turned into full-blown frostiness on the live shows, and now it seems only a matter of time before things turn really nasty between the pair. Simon almost had Cheryl in tears when he blamed her for giving both her acts Rikki Loney and Lloyd Daniels the wrong songs to perform, while she later hit back by calling him "nasty" and "rude" during an interview with the BBC. On Saturday Cheryl was left mortified after Simon joked live on air that she was falling out of her weird dress, ranting at him, "Why did you do that?!" during the advert break. When a viewer called in to The Xtra Factor last night and slagged off Cheryl's weird dress, rather than stand up for her, Simon clapped and told the woman she should call in every week. There's definitely tension in the air over at The X Factor, and many of you have pointed out that Cheryl seems angry and on-edge during the show. Do you think they're play-hating for the cameras, or are Simon and Cheryl starting to hate each other for real?

Do Cheryl and Simon hate each other?

Nah, it's all just pantomime
Yes, you can feel the tension
