heatworld wishes it could still feel the effects of a kiss five months later. But maybe not from Richard Gere. And certainly not in the same circumstances as Celebrity Big Brother winner Shilpa Shetty, who was held at Mumbai airport yesterday by immigration officials who said she was still wanted on obscenity charges over this kiss. The couple caused a furore at an Aids fundraiser in April among conservative Hindus who said they had broken the country’s strict anti-obscenity laws. Shetty and Gere were banned from leaving the country by a regional court. That decision was overturned by the Supreme Court, but an administration problem at the airport did not show the amended records. Shetty’s agent said the actress, who was en route to Berlin for a Bollywood musical, was completely shocked. “She called me in the middle of the night and was in tears.” After prolongued questioning, Shilpa was finally permitted to join her dance troupe.
