Could Simon Webbe BE any more deluded?

Simon Webbe

Simon Webbe (currently sporting the most ridiculous beard heatworld has seen since that wizardy bloke was on X Factor) has just claimed he’s the saviour of UK hip-hop. Okaaaaaay then. Webbe says his former group Blue paved the way for Dizzee Rascal and Mike Skinner with their debut hit All Rise. *Falls to floor clutching sides. Starts convulsing.* Simon told 4Music: “I grew up on Onyx, Wu Tang Clan, Ice Cube, Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg and it was really disappointing to find out that right here in the UK there was no real rap industry, so I kind of took that on board. A few years later I got with Blue and I put a rap in All Rise. It sold 200,000 copies, so that was my kind of contribution to hip-hop. I was kinda hoping it would open the doors for these kids to come through now. Which is what they're doing."

For your enjoyment here’s the aforementioned seminal All Rise. If you can’t be arsed with all the boyband posturing at the beginning, skip to Simon’s, ahem, pioneering rap 2:24 minutes in.

Simon himself raps: “The decision of this jury has not been spoken.” So time to speak up – leave you comments below...
