Madonna goes on a £100,000 holiday;
You know what it's like. You've splurged all your money on Christmas presents, parties and the January sales – so money's often a bit tight this time of year. Unless you're Madonna of course, who's just gone and whisked the entire Ritchie/Ciccone clan off to a palace in India for the sum of £100,000. She's got reason to celebrate, mind – she's just found out that she's won the right to keep her adopted son, David Banda. After hearing the news from a social worker, who praised Madonna for being an "excellent mother", Madge was so pleased she booked a private jet and time at the £2,000-a-night Bhavan Palace hotel. Kerry's New Year bust-up
The festive season is a time for peace, love – and massive fights with your in-laws, obviously. Kerry Katona's house was no different this New Year's Eve, when she had a massive row with her mother-in-law, Mark Croft's mum Marilyn, at a party the Katona/Crofts held at their house. The pair have never got on famously, but after exchanging words at the 'do, they got into a scuffle and Kerry ordered Marilyn to leave. Sounds just like heatworld's Christmas – well, apart from the whole thing was filmed for her new MTV TV show, due to be aired in Febuary.

Lee Ryan arrested
Ex-Blue singer Lee Ryan was arrested on New Year's Eve following an alleged attack on a cab driver. The singer was on his way to a party when he was involved in a traffic accident with a taxi in Oxted, Surrey. Tempers flared and the taxi driver ended up radioing his office for help. His operator then called the police, who turned up and arrested Lee. A friend said: "Lee was going to a party and there was a bit of a crash – nothing big, but he lost his temper. A taxi driver got the brunt of it and then the law turned up and nicked Lee. He was driven to Reigate police station where he spent a couple of hours." A Surrey police spokesman said: "A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault then bailed pending further inquiries."

Courteney to use Britney storyline in show
Courteney Cox Arquette is planning to use Britney Spears' car crash life as inspiration for the second series of her US TV show Dirt. Well, there's certainly a hell of a lot of incidents she could use, including the divorce and custody battle with her ex K-Fed, plus that head-shaving incident, rehab and going out knickerless. However Courteney has defended her decision to base a character on Britney, saying: "This is not an attack on Britney. I am not out to offend anyone."
