Will Juno be our film of the year?

When we saw American indie flick Juno back in October, we always knew the teen-pregnancy comedy had the potential to break out of its niche to a wider audience. But we never guessed that in January the film would end up topping the US box-office. Having released on a handful of screens at the beginning of December, the film has gradually expanded, rising to number two in the charts this weekend (behind the National Treasure sequel). And on Monday and Tuesday, scorching word-of-mouth buzz saw Juno take more cash than any other release, and now looks set to crest $100million in takings. (Double Oscar-winning indie smash Little Miss Sunshine took $60million.) The film's star Ellen Page was named a nominee for the Orange Rising Star Award on Tuesday – the only award given at the BAFTAs voted for by the public. Juno also stars Superbad's Michael Cera and opens in the UK on 8 February. Trust us, it's bloody brilliant.

Juno is seriously one of the best films I've ever seen. I am pretty skint at and I'd STILL pay to see it again. And probably a third time! Ellen Page is a genius. She 100 per cent deserved that oscar nomination.
