Read George Clooney’s shock statement about Geri Halliwell

George Clooney seems like a man with a good head on his shoulders – he’s funny, smart and oh-so-handsome, and we’ve always thought we could go to him in times of need and ask for a few words of wisdom/a nice cuddle/thousands of pounds/Brad Pitt’s phone number. However, now that we’ve heard him wax lyrical about who he thinks is an "inspirational" figure, we’re starting to have doubts – it’s not Mother Theresa, it’s not Angelina Jolie, it’s not even Heather Mills… it’s Geri bloody Halliwell! “She was always my favourite Spice Girl,” he says. “I loved her feisty approach and the fact she wasn’t afraid to have an opinion. Her work with Unicef and [sexual health charity] Marie Stopes in the third world was inspiring. And her address at a UN Youth summit in 2000 was brave – it's so easy to not get involved and she just gritted her teeth and went for it.” We feel sorry for anyone currently holed up with Geri on the Spice tour – we’d imagine she’ll go on and on about THIS for weeks (whereas if George Clooney said something nice about us, we’d keep it to ourselves, obviously (ahem…).
