The ever-beautiful Ryan Phillippe has given a revealing interview about his divorce from Reese Witherspoon – and says that period of his life was “the darkest, saddest place I had ever been.” Ryan and Reese, who have two children together, were Hollywood’s sweethearts before their sad split. “There were a good four or five months of not being able to get out of bed,” he says in an interview with fashion magazine W. “It was the worst time in my life. You get through it. It's a process that's not easy, but I get less and less sad about it every day." Ryan also denies it was his alleged affair with actress Abbie Cornish that caused the break-up. “It was unfair for her to be called the names that she was, because it wasn't about that," he says. "I don't think an outside person can ever cause a divorce. I had difficulties in my relationship, and in my marriage, long before I ever met her.”

i dont think shes too good for him he seems like a nice guy and hes hot too. No one is to say why they split up other than the both of them, people just jump to conclusions. Come on he must have something going for him he he gets reece then Abbie...

He probably does have a point in there being problems, namely HIM being the problem. Reece is way to good for him and so better off. What loser.

and besides that...he probably wouldn't of had "4 of 5 months of not being able to get out of bed" if he hadn't cheated on her, i think it was guilt that kept him in bed...alone with depression and feeling like a complete twonk!
