Film industry in crisis as Liz Hurley retires

We’ve just heard some news even more devastating than Joss Stone apparently wanting to retire from music – now Elizabeth “don’t call me Liz” Hurley says she’s quitting the movie industry… which is funny, as we didn’t know she was still in it. Despite an impressive body of work including Austin Powers and, erm, that thing about the devil, Liz says she has no plans to make any more movies. “Filming is very hard with a child, and I found I wasn't able to be a good mum and do movies,” she says. “I really do very little film work at all. I decided I couldn't really do movies any more, which was a huge decision because I love making movies.” Wow. We tried to call Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese to get their reaction to this bombshell, but they were too traumatised to answer the phone.
