Mark Speight’s best mate slams police:
It was revealed last night that tragic TV presenter Mark Speight made one final visit to the flat he shared with fiancée Natasha Collins before taking his own life. The 42-year-old left a suicide note at the apartment – the same place where he discovered Natasha’s body in January – before making his way to Paddington Station on Monday. A second note was also discovered on his person. However, last night the police refused to confirm whether or not the first note had been discovered when officers visited the flat the day after the star’s disappearance. Mark’s close friend Stu Goldsmith blasted their actions, saying, “If they didn’t find it then they are not very good at their job. If they did find it then why did they not find him quicker?” The contents of the suicide notes has not been made public, so it’s not clear at this point whether they did contain any information about the star’s whereabouts, but what is clear is that there are a lot of upset friends and family who are continuing to search for answers.
Amy no-show for Blake's birthday
He might be her Blakeincarcerated, but Amy Winehouse was nowhere to be seen on her husband's birthday yesterday. While Blakeincarcerated celebrated his 26th year inside prison, Ames was busy recording the Bond theme tune somewhere far far away in, er, Henley (so not very far away at all, then.) Let's hope his inmates made him a cake instead, eh?
Leona breaks another record!
Could this woman BE any bigger? Not content with having a Number One single with Bleeding Love in the US, Leona Lewis has now officially hit the top spot in the album charts, too, making her the first British solo artist to debut at Number One in the US album charts. Bleeding Love also looks set to hit the Number One spot in the single charts again this weekend, after dropping down to the number four slot, but steadily creeping back up again. Mentor Simon Cowell said, "What Leona has achieved is incredible. This is the hardest market to crack. For her debut album to be Number One is incredible." Ker-ching, eh, Simon?
Apprentice Simon: “Drinking and drug-taking was out of control”
You watched him blub as he was booted off The Apprentice last night, but Simon Smith says he actually has a lot to smile about. The 36-year-old former Royal Artillery NCO has admitted that he fought a long battle against drink and drugs after leaving the army. “It was a tough time. I was drinking and doing drugs and it got out of control,” he remembers. Despite being given his marching orders by Sir Alan, Simon says he’s grateful to the show for giving him the chance to realise his TV dream – something he never thought would be possible after his problems with drugs. “I’m thrilled,” he said. “It’s further proof that you can make something of yourself when you leave the army.” It’s pretty clear that most of you lot think Sir Alan fired the wrong person last night, and we can’t help but have a sneaky suspicion the big man himself was regretful of his decision. Simon said of Sir Alan, “I’d love to spend an hour with him – I reckon he’s an inspiring guy.”
