Here’s an Amy Winehouse heroin(e) story we NEVER thought we’d read…

She’s not your traditional James Bond-style hero but, nonetheless, Amy Winehouse has topped a poll of most heroic people in the world. Despite – or perhaps, in spite of – all of her problems, it seems her talent and attitude still shine through. She came top in the under-25s Sky poll, and second in the overall one, getting pipped by Princess Diana, of all people. Amy did, however, beat Posh, Angelina, the Queen, Madonna, Kylie and Mother Theresa. Wow, how we’d love to be at dinner party with that lot. Worryingly, Pete Doherty didn’t do too badly in the male poll, although he was beaten by more traditionally heroic types like Winston Churchill. “The majority of the top 10 women chosen, such as Diana, Princess of Wales and Amy Winehouse, seem to portray a certain sense of vulnerability or have had to fight against some adversity in their lives,” says psychologist Donna Dawson. While this is certainly true, we’re really not sure if that should be considered “heroic” exactly – not until she’s successfully conquered her demons, anyway. What do you think?
